    Disconnect the HDD and retry.

    [Problem]
A print job is interrupted by the following conditions, and then after the condition(s) is cleared, SC990 or SC819 occur.
    • The paper full condition occurs during a Booklet job.
    • The toner End condition occurs.

    [Cause]
    Engine Firmware bug
    [Action]
Upgrade to Engine Firmware 1.55:08 or later

I assume you are referring to the ITB cleaning unit, so were it's mechanics OK? It is kind of easy to not install it all the way if you haven't done that before. Then the gears on the unit won't mesh correctly with the gears on the machine then and the the loss of drive to the waste toner auger will cause the unit to fill up.
Also, you might want to check the waste toner bottle to make sure it isn't totally full. Especially if you are not the only person that deals with that machine.
Um, you don't have to answer this if you don't want to, but but since I can't see your machine or what you have done to it I am curious about why you concluded that the HDD had anything to do with this. If you can answer that though, thanks.

SC 990 Software performance error - reload firmware
SC 990 Software performance error - replace controller
SC 990 Paper full condition occurs during booklet job - update Engine firmware to v1.55.08 or higher
SC 990 Software performance error - update engine fw to 1.55:08 & system fw to 1.22 or higher as set
SC 990 Software performance error - load fiery patches in correct order
If you do not have access to download firmware from Ricoh, hire a qualified tech to do it for you.

Slimslob,, I never said I wasn't qualifield...My quote was. (Unfortunately I don't have access to Ricoh support). We all are here to get the info not available to us, isn't that the reason for this site. I have access and support to the Manufacturers we are authorized in, unfortunately we have a client that has this crappy c5000 there that we take care of and have been for some time. I know we get some crap on the board but I thought the serious techs here can distinguish the ones looking to fix their own machine versus a serious tech looking for real support from the tech friends here.

You might try trading favors with a local RFG dealer who might need parts or firmware that you have access to.

So it's just that you're not a Ricoh tech?
Not a box that your dealer sells...is that what you meant?
