    MPC3003 scans

    Hi,

customer with a new MPC3003, installed scan to email and
scan to folder. It is working, but the customer complaines that
it takes a long time before the scan arrive in the mail as well in the folder.
Before, he had a MPC2500, he says there were no problems on scanning.

checked the scan and I noticed that when making a scan the machine takes
a long time for processing when finally arriving the mail/folder.

anyone a clue here? Has it to do withe the network or must I adjust the settings
    in the scan modus . . . .

    thanks in advance

    Re: MPC3003 scans

I would start by checking the scan size settings on the copier {What dpi is it set for?}[a lower dpi setting will allow quicker data transfer cause file size is less.] Are they trying to scan in full color if it has color scanning capabilities that will slow it way down? If scan to email is an issue it most likely is the email provider. Scan to folder issues if not file size, type related you could try a Network switch I have seen the data get bottle necked before and causes issues with speed.
Mpc2500 are pretty slow scanners as well can you check the settings on the mpc2500 and match to new machine?

    HOPE THIS IS HELPFUL

If the machine has the OCR Unit Type M2 installed that could be the source of the problem. When the MFP is set to scan to OCR readable PDF, the OCR processing takes place at the MFP prior to sending the document. Depending on the type and size of the original scanned the processing could take minutes.

Also check the file compression setting.

I bet it's the OCR unit, doing it. We tested it, and has not installed it on any copiers since. Too slow. 30 sec / page.
