    MP C2003 Output bin design

    Lanier Fix..jpg

So i go to a call and find not 1 but a few customers have resorted to their own repair of the 2003's output bin, for some reason the bin has this spring loaded flap and sits really high with a deep cove below the exit, anytime they run a 30-100 page print out if they dont remove the paper in small stacks the paper comes out in balls and starts mushing, the front edge of the paper dives down into the stack that is sitting at such an angle the paper cant glide out flat, the edge just catches and rolls the paper into a ball like a paper towel roll. They did this so the paper can come out flat, of the 3 or 4 customers that all exhibit the same problem none are using the same brand of paper, and the 2 i looked at were using a decent brand and quality nice smooth paper in a humidity controlled office enviornment, for the life of me and I can not find any other reason for it to happen other then the shape of the bin and spring loaded thing are a complete fail in design.

Have any of you seen an issue with this model and its bin shape?

We have only delivered one and it was this week. I wonder if the tray for the MP C3003 can be used D1494496?

That spring loaded exit tray is modded from the original one.

The best customer fix I've seen for this is a lid from an A4 box of paper in place of the exit tray.
It does not look pretty but the paper stacks well having a straight bottom plate, front and rear guides and a side stop to hit.
But not much use for A3.

My temporary measure while i research the issue was to put an empty paper towel roll in the crevice so the paper lays flat across the spring loaded part.
What did you mean by modded from the original one, was there a different design prior to this one, perhaps we could get that one instead.

As pictured the original type of exit tray.

I've attached the related MPC3003 RTB about the issue.

The paper exit ass'y for the MPC2003 is a different part number from the MPC3003.
But the RTB would appear to suggest that the modded black exit rollers can be fitted across the Metis range.

Thanks for that info, I didnt check the other models for TSBs just the 2003, I might give those exit rollers a try and see if that helps.
