Re: Is there is a way to fix the toner pump for Ricoh MPC series
Replace it with a new assembly, its usually the clutch that fails and I have but do not recommend taking it apart it is a pain, i had to swap the clutch from one style to another and its a pain to get apart. If you just order the part its all of two screws and a connector to replace it. Happens a lot on the B223 series. -

The worm gear in the pump kills the clutch over time.
Tried it a couple of times with no luck.
I have tried using a junker machine and using a good color pump.
Still no luck.
Bite the bullet and fix it with a new pump. saves headaches down the line. Why do they call it common sense?
If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?Comment

Yes thats right i think the 90% from the falling pumps problem isn't the clutch because i test it many times when the pcu and the transfer out from the machine i feel it rotates wellComment

if you are familiar with electrical drives, may be you can spend a couple of hours to service the pump if it is in half working condition. Else, replacing is an affordable option.Comment

I tried more than once to fix the pump but think the most suitable solution is to replace it with a new oneLive for yourself and you will live in vain. Live for others, and you will live againComment

I took a failed pump apart a couple of years ago because I was curious what the guts of the thing looked like. On that one, the clutch was the most likely thing that failed as it was filled with the brown dust of electromagnetic clutch death.Comment

right, so once we are inside the motor, we can come to a conclusion.Comment

But if you feel like it is working then you can try to see if maybe the hose is clogged. Clear out the hose, sometimes if you don't have OEM toner in then the toner can get clumped up in the hose. I have learned this the hard way, tried saving a few pennies getting the compatible toner, and have had to change my share of toner pumps when all i needed to do was just switch back to OEM toner. After you have cleared out the hose, have a good toner in there, do a force toner supply and if you don't see the color getting darker, then it is for sure the toner pump.

At some point you are going to realize that you have added up more cost in man hours than a new pump would have cost. At that point you will also realize that you are no closer to having the customer's machine up and running than you were at the start. Replace the pump and hose with new and be done with it.Comment

Re: Is there is a way to fix the toner pump for Ricoh MPC series
The problem is that the rubber part of the pump, is getting expanded, and when the toner is getting low (Time to replace the toner cartridge), it start pumping air, and the toner is not moving.
As long as the pump is full of toner, the toner acts as a seal, so no air is sucked past the rubber part, so I guess, if you stuff the pump full of toner, it might work until it's out of toner again...
I always just replace the pump, or use one from a discarded used machine.Comment

Re: Is there is a way to fix the toner pump for Ricoh MPC series
We have tons of this type of machines kicking around in our copier graveyard. Takes a couple of minutes to whip the pump of one and nip back to the customer. Even our call controllers know how to take them off of machines and courier them out to us.
Really not worth trying to repair them.

I do repair pumps. I just replace the inner rubber which can be bouht online. As for now all refurbished ones work ok. At the beggining it may take some time to open the casing but after a few tries the entire process takes up to 5 minutes.Comment
