Or, install the PCL6 universal driver that he should use :-)

There is nothing wrong with the universal driver, might be if your still using v3 or early 4, but I have had no problems with 4.6.0.0

I'm not trying to pull your leg here: What's your beef with the driver? I've found it to do it's job just fine, but had some trouble with 4.4 (or 4.5?) that messed up booklets and other stuff with the mpcxx03 series. This is fixed in 4.6 though.

Re: Mpc 2003 printing issue using pcl 5 driver

I've always found PCL XL drivers, no matter who builds them, to be flaky. Documents don't format correctly, jobs spit out gibberish, bad things just tend to happen. Since I would always turn on error reports on my devices to help with issues, I'd always have some kind of PCL XL overflow or formatting error coming out. Trying to print PDF's with that driver is a particular kind of nightmare. My other issue with the universal driver is that it relies too much on SMNP, which many of my customers either disable or restrict, so without being able to talk to the printer, memory allocation or functions would be missing that could have been easily solved with a model specific driver.

My preference for Ricoh drivers has always been:

                    1. RPCS: still don't know why they got rid of that driver. My medical and legal offices loved it, especially the copy prevention background.
                    2. PostScript: can't beat it for anything Adobe related, or for any kind of graphics output. it costs, but for the customer that needs it there's no substitute.
                    3. PCL 5: good and stable, and just seems to work
                    4. PCL 6: never quite seems to do what it's supposed to. It either works great, or it breaks everything.
