Ricoh Aficio MP301SPF not warming up

    Hi guys,

Please could you assist, I have a problem with a MP301, as soon as I switch it on it shows that it is warming up and keeps saying please wait, I cannot make copies or even print out a counter list, tried changing BICU, controller, drum unit, side door and fuser but still nothing. the machine is on, no SC codes but it cannot do anything. any ideas?

    thank you

Have you tried disconnecting the HDD ? usually a faulty drive would cause this

Nope, this one has no hard drive, I'm just changing the power supply now, that could be the cause.

No luck with the power supply either now I've got an SC542 to deal with as well, cleared it but I know it will come up again. Changed the fuser again but nothing also.

Did the customer have a power loss before the issue started? Have you tried reinstalling the system firmware?

Did you swap the RAM DIMMS when you replaced the controller board???

I'm puzzled guys, I have basically changed every part in the machine, Controller with the original NV RAM and with the machine NV RAM, fuser, BICU, High voltage board, power supply, fuser, PCU, side door. It is a refurb so I have no idea which customer it came from. You think it could be the firmware?

Are there any SC logged in SP mode/sc history? Some aren't displayed by it's own. You can also try and perform a memory clear. You can pick "clear all" if you have a birth sheet - otherwise I'd avoid claring the engine related stuff during the first attempt. Does the hot roller heat up despite the message?

I tried changing the memory but still nothing, also tried clearing the memory in SP mode but still nothing. I checked the temperature of the fuser on SP mode and it shows me that the fuser is at 161 degrees but when I feel it, it is not even a little warm. I tried 3 fusers and I even stripped all the fusers to check if everything is fine and all the fusers look perfect.

Ok that's definetly odd - you shure you looked at the right sp and did not just read the target temp?

IIRC there are NV ram chips on both controller and bicu - did you replace those, too? Usually you need to swap them from the old to the new MFP but if one of them is corrupted you might need to try a new one.

It is really odd, SP mode was correct, I saw the temperature moving up, I have changed the NV ram on the controller and the BICU board, I tried it with the original machine's NV ram as well as the boards NV ram that I used.

I'm kinda out of ideas - never seen a cold fuser changing the live temperature display since this is basicly proof that the thermistor changes the resistor value. You're really shure it wasn't hot? Did you youst touched the fuser housing? Did you cheat right the door switch and looked after light from the fuser lamp?

I have, I saw the temperature rising and the lamp coming on and going off, but when I took the fuser out I touched the hot roller and it wasn't even warm! I even changed the door but still nothing, the machine keeps trying to warm up. I am all out of ideas.
