mpc 3503 and extra fax line 416561

    Hi

We have an Mpc3503 in the workshop and need to test the extra fax line. The machine has the standard fax m3 that works perfectly.

I cannot get the extra fax line 416561 to work

I found a service manual on the Ricoh site that says

    snip--------------

    11. Enter the service mode. Set bit 1 of communication switch 16 to "1" (SP1-104-023).
    12. Exit the service mode.
    13. Turn the main power switch off and on.
    14. Print out the system parameter list. Then check that "G3" shows as an option.
    15. Set up and program the items required for PSTN-2 communications.

    -------------------

11 seems to be set by the machine and as for setting up pstn communications where are these ? the service manual has nothing for pstn

    snip--------------

    Check SP3-103/104 on FAX SP
Those are the only settings for PSTN
Setting SP1-104-023 to 1 means that you want to use the second line as default

First, I hope that you didn't have to pay for that service manual as it doesn't appear to be correct or complete. I have three different copies of the service manual on my laptop, newest was just downloaded. The steps that you have shown start with 13 on all of them not 11. Pstn-1 and Pstn-2 settings are in all 3.

Communication Switch 16 Fax SP 1-104-023
      Without Second line
      00000000

      With Second line
      00000010

With Second and third line installed
      00001010

To toggle a given bit, press that number on the numeric pad.

Check that the flat connection cable is turned the right way and is connected to both the G3 interface unit and the FCU board, part of the line 1 interface. The blue strip on the cable should be facing away from the board at both ends.
