[Misc] how to print directly from a usb stick to machine

Hi

i have a mpc 4500 and mpc 5000, and my client wants to print directly via usb stick (pdf). I was told to install VM card Type C and the usb extender... but no joy...
can anyone help??

I don't see what the VM card is needed for, but you will need the USB card, and a USB/SD host extension, that you mount on the side of the operating panel. Not sure if MPC4500 has this, or if it was MPC2800 and newer...

i have the usb card installed and have the host extension... connected them.. but cannot see option to print via usb on the print option...

Hello.

EDIT: It will not be possible... This device will just scan-to-usb/SD with that optional...

(Even thaw I am not 100% sure I remember installing in a MPc2050 and it just scan...)

I think the Usb/Sd option box for the models you are talking about is only for allowing scanning to Usb/Sd card. I could be wrong here, but I have not seen these earlier models support printing from Usb/Sd.

Only solution, is to setup a laptop next to the machine, and allow them to print from the laptop using a memory stick in the USB port of the laptop.

This optional (Usb/Sd option box) it was usually associated an optional pictbridge.
Only then it made sense ...

Also be aware that even on new machines, what type of files the machine will print is very limited. PDF and JPEG are supported. Anything that you would need a license for (like a Word file) will not be able to be printed in that fashion.
