    Robob

I'm back to an old issue that has not showed up in months: I thought I had it fixed, but it turns out they just haven't been using it much...

A Savin 9060 (Lanier LD360, Ricoh MP6001) on which the fuser cleaning web motor is not turning. It wears through the web, then the web starts pouring out into the machine!

I looked up some bulletins last year and replaced the web motor, updated the FWU, and thought the problem was solved. Not so, it still does not turn. Worst part of this is it is located at Hartsfield International Airport - not a quick and easy location to get in and out of. Anyone have this problem before? I don't know if it might be the BICU PWB or some other board...

    Thanks!

There's a bulletin about lubing the worm gear on those web motors also an updated part for said motor AX040187. I would take a new web assembly with lubed motor and swap the whole thing out along with bicu just in case.

I went back to the old AX040159 motor months ago because I had a few of the new motors go out after only a couple of months. Of course that motor used to go out on the 2060, but not near as often as the new motors on the '02 series. Still trying to figure out how having the machine now throw an SC code & go completely down is better than getting a call for noise.

I don't know how much this will help as it is from a while back. Still, I've seen where the web apparently had a defect and self destructed in the manner you described, and just replacing the web took care of that.
I don't know how to check for the defect, as I've only seen this after the web has failed. But I have seen the web fail in this manner on a wide variety of machines over a rather long time, so you might want to consider this plan "B" in case there's no joy from the more technical suggestions.
Parting question: did the web have an unusually heavy amount of toner in the area that failed? (Sorry, can't see your web so I had to ask.) If not, it didn't stall. If so, I've found that speeding up the web feed a little bit helps. I probably run across more low usage machines out here on the periphery than you do at the core so I suppose that is something you may wish to consider too.
Well, hope that helps. And if not, sorry for wasting your time (especially since Hartsfield was one of my favorite airports from back in the day).

I have never had a web fail in the way you have mentioned. I have had an unusually heavy amount of toner build up on a web when the motor goes out as Iowa mentioned. Every time I have had the web pull out into the machine it has been due to a failure of one of the web idle gears or excessive wear on the web brake pad (B0654247) which allows the hot roller to actually pull the web off the supply roller. That is the reason that the fusing unit PM kit for production B/W includes the brake pad.

I've had a similar problem when I did a refurb on a 6001. The web motor wasn't turning, the reason was that the gears on the web were all damaged and after I replaced it, it was perfect, also the web could also be the wrong way around. goodluck
