Installed a used MPC5502 that is not connected to the network yet. Copy function works fine but the error light is on and the notice in the lower left hand says "Module authentication has failed" then next message that flashes is "libcvm.cnf." Any help appreciated.

Check here.
Why do they call it common sense?
If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it? -
Re: Module authentication has failed libcvm.cnf MPC5502
Was finally able to make it back out to this site. I stopped Java, rebooted, then uninstalled Java. Removed the Java SD card. Rebooted and the original error went away, but this message replaced it: Module Authentication has failed- datacrypto.cnf. Any suggestions appreciated.Comment

Re: Module authentication has failed libcvm.cnf MPC5502
This model had the option of a data override security option that could be installed from an SD card.
Check behind the front cover below the toner. There are two screws and a small panel comes off. If the person how run up the copier has been nice to you then you should find the missing card you been. From there it's only a matter of uninstalling the DOS from the card that it's currently merged onto.
Check PS card first. There should only be four files inside each folder.
SP 5873-002 I think is the un merge SP. though you will have to read the manual to work out which slot each card needs to be in.
Hope this heapsComment
