    Aficio mp c5501 error sc750

understand this to be tray 1 lift motor error on finisher which cold be paper height sensor out of position as a more likely cause. Please advise if lift motor or finisher main board problems are likely/unlikely. Frank/ActionPhotocopy

Check the connections to the shift tray motor or it maybe the motor itself is defective

If there is nothing interfering with the movement of the shift tray up or down, then replace the motor. First though just cycle power. If the error does not come back, there is a chance that the customer had a desk, table, file cabinet of tall waste setting where the tray came down on top of it.

Yep, 90% of the time, the customer either pushed the tray into a wall, or placed a table or stacks of paper boxes under the tray, and when the tray moves down, it's stuck, and fails.

depending on the finisher, the shift tray can be pushed one notch too high, unable to recover because the sensors do not react as expected.
remove the back cover and drive gear to move the tray downwards a bit, then reattach and retry
