Ricoh Aficio 2018D - Scanner Memory

We have a Ricoh Aficio 2018D and have been running into issues scanning documents with large page counts (anywhere between 60-100 pages or so). We are currently using scanrouter to save the scans to a local server.

It seems to be stopping at a memory limit, even though the machine is configured with 192MB of memory. Is it possible to increase the amount of memory available to the scanning function?

    Thanks in advance!

Product support guide says 192MB shared between copier, scanner, and printer. You could try to install a 256MB DIMM, but I doubt the machine reads above the 192MB threshold.

Sounds like they are trying to pull a 20 ton trailer with an S10 pickup.

I didn't think that we were trying to overuse the machine too much, as the pdf file saved to the server after "running out of resources" is between 6 and 10 mb. That seems a far cry from what could be available.

I do realize there is a large overhead and that it does some compression. However, I thought there'd be a little more capacity than that as far as scanning in docs.

Anyway, thanks for the responses, I guess we're at about the limits as to what we can do with the machine.

Have you tried changing DPI settings?

We have it set at 200 dpi, one of the lowest settings. I will try reducing it to 100 dpi to see if that makes reasonable scans, but my guess is that resolution may be too low.

            Thanks!
