    RCF File and Popup

    Hello,
i found your forum by searching informations about ricoh drivers, i have read a lot of nice things here, so i decided to post my question ..
we have enable Print&Hold on our default config, and i created a RCF file with PDE (even did it by hand..) all the config inside is working but not the popup .. no way to have a popup asking user for a password even the first time he try to print, that mean that without password, the print go to the queue then to the printer, and it faill.. without error on the user computer..

Have you an idea on how to make the popup work, or to setup a default password, i did it on the printer queue but it seem it didn't go to the user computer.. (i did same with lexmark and the password go to the user computer).
    Environement is : Windows server 2012 - Windows 7 x86 - Windows 8.1 x64
Driver : PCL6 Driver for Universal Print 4.6

    best regards
    Chris.

Did you try to set it up from a W7 PC directly to the printer?
        Whatever

          what do you mean ?

if i set a password on a user computer directly all is working, but user must set it ! and they are not asked for if there is no password

so there is 2 way acceptable for me :

          - popup, as it should be (in rcf usermanual)
          - set a default password on the printqueue which will be set on the user computer by default. (as i do for lexmark for example)

for the moment i can't do one these case.

I just installed the MP C3003 driver on my Win 8 laptop. In order to use authentication other than user code you must open the properties of the installed driver, click on the Advanced Options tab and check the box User Authentication. You can then go to Preferences - Detailed Settings - Job Setup and User Code box will be greyed out and Authentication button will be available. If User Authentication is not checked, User Code box will be available and Authentication will be greyed out. Most of the time I just use User Codes.

              Re: RCF File and Popup

The most important thing to do is to remove any existing ricoh driver and the driver package that may still be installed on the pc before you install the custom driver, otherwise the popup will not work. Just deleting it from the Devices and Printers section still leaves the driver embedded. Use the command printmanagement.msc in the search/run box. In the printer folder delete all ricoh drivers, then in the driver folder delete all packages.

If you get a message that you cannot delete a driver or package, there may be an unfinished job in the queue or the spooler . If that's the case, then go to
              • Services (type in Run box)
              • scroll to Print Spooler and stop it.
              • Go My Computer and open your C: drive
              • Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
              • Delete any files in that folder
              • Go back to the Print Spooler and start it

You should now be able to delete the driver package.

                Re: RCF File and Popup

@slimslob: thx for the answer, not sure to understand it, what i need is a print&hold with the windows login name of the user and a password set by the user.

@teebee1234 : thx, i tested but same, no popup, the print go directly to the printer but is not printed, with a Failed recording (translated from french) error in the log.
