MP 2851 random white Ops panel

I am working on a MP 2851 150k on it, that randomly gets a white screen on the ops panel.
A reboot or 2 has so far reset the screen.

Any idea why the white screen?

    Thanks

    Also maybe worth noting.
The machine stills prints just fine, even with the screen being white.
On boot up the splash screen does show before the white screen appears.

Customer just called me again wondering when I'll be getting it fixed.
Fixed? I don't even know what the problem is...LOL.

    Thanks for any help
    Jeff

Could just be the LCD is on it's way out. Do you have a spare ops panel from an old machine handy to try?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

There's a working similar machine on site also.
Tomorrow I am heading there to swap the Ops Panel with the working machine.
But I'm already sure it will work since the screen shows a picture (splash screen) at the beginning of a boot.
I think the question is, is it a software or hardware issue and if so what?

Being random I'm not sure if I'll know anything for sure right away.

I visited the machine Friday morning and the screen was still white.
I long pressed the * and # keys to reset up the machine and the screen restarted like nothing was wrong.

          More observations:
When switching between screens it looks like it takes just a hair longer than what I'm used to.
Enough that I get a look at the "white" screen during the switch. It might be normal I'm not sure.

I wondered if the screen wasn't coming back to normal after a sleep mode so I tried that and it returned to a normal state several times. But while in the timer settings I noticed that the "Auto Off Timer" was grayed out. Most of my customers have this set to 240 minutes (4 hours) maxed out. But there is no way to adjust or turn on this setting since the button is grayed out.

Any ideas about the screen being white would be appreciated. I've had this customer for several years and he has purchased multiple machines from me. I'd like to get his white screens back to normal.

          Thanks so much!

I have nothing to suggest relating to the white screen, although, you said there's another machine that you could swap OP panels, but there's no mention that you tried that?
As far as your "auto off" setting issue....quite simply, it's been disabled in UT
UT/ System settings/Administrator Tools/ AOF (Always on) - set to "on"

Every time that I have had different display problems depending on what screen was being displayed it was a bad display panel.
