MPC2551 fuser film

The fuser belt assembly part #D1054050. Was wondering if anyone has found a way to get these refurbished as I cant seem to get the individual parts myself. Very expensive for a small part in a machine...

The lubrication pad inside the fuser film was all torn up from wear and causing it to bind up making noises in idle and during use.

Im pretty sure that model had that issue, the inner pad with lubrication would wear and the machine would growl a lot of these did it very soon into the life of the part, some guys have taken the sleeve off and lubricated the pad, i just replace the whole piece which comes with the sleeve assembled on the shaft and plastic bushings all you do is insert the bulb assembly. its pretty much sold as a 1 piece thing, if the felt is all torn up i dont know if it can be reconditioned. Some of the guys that take them apart and redo the grease might have a better answer, as we just usually replace them.

The unit doesn't really have a "lube pad" in it to speak of. It has a metal shell inside that if you slide the film off to one side, you will see all sorts of scrape marks, etc. This is where the noise is coming from inside the unit. There is a soft pad where it comes into contact with the pressure roller.

I am one that does a grease job on these rather than replace them, because you can put a new one in and have issues fairly quick as the poster above mentioned.

Basically how I do this is to remove the unit from the fuser. I then slide the film to one side close to the edge, but not completely off. I then apply a light coating of Krylon high temp grease to the metal shell. (Too much grease is bad). Slide the belt to the other side (wipe off excess) and then hit the section that was covered by the belt when I first started. Return belt to the center and wipe down the outside of the belt with a citrus cleaner. I also take the opportunity to clean the edges of the pressure roller with the citrus cleaner so it gets a good grip to spin the belt. I also give the belt several good turns to spread/smooth out the grease inside and put the unit together.

After putting the unit back in the machine, I then run the fusing unit using the output check function with the motor on low speed. This lets the unit heat up and further get the grease smoothed out inside.

I then see about running some copies. Some jamming in the fuser can and does happen to start, but usually after a couple of tries, it is fine and the jamming issue will be done with.

Sounds like a lot to a point and it is, but out of the dozens I have greased, I have never had to ever re-grease them again or replace the fixing film unit so to me, it is worth it.

Thank you. Yes, I have lubed a couple up like you have and haven't been back. The soft pressure pad was torn on one so I removed it and it wouldn't work, jammed every time. Would like to replace that pad but its not available as a part. Thanks again for feedback.
