Ricoh MPc305 Light copy density

have a c305spf, the density of the copies (on the glass or through the feeder) is light. prints from the PC and internal are fine. Using the image density adjustment does nothing.
Any ideas?

The Optics? How do the optics looks? Have you cleaned them?

Slit glass, or the black square towards the back (something to black sensor?) make sure it isnt full of white paper dust. Or pull up the slit and plateen glass and clean the mirrors. Carriage wont move if the power is on so make sure power is off.

Had to edit you said copies on the glass are light too, it has to be the mirrors.

If cleaning the optics makes no difference then do a memory clear on the copier application ONLY, do not clear all

Turn off toner save, it has more affect in copy mode than print mode.

Have seen this on other models where low toner density cause only copies to look faint and print look reasonable. Could be this issue.

Check that laser units are firmly set. Reinstall them, only takes 5 minuts.
