    MP2800 color registration off

tried to run the color registration adjustment in the user mode but it ran for 10 seconds and said unable to complete.... is there an override or a simulation to run this in service mode? The customer is using generic toners as a result the color density is sub-par could this explain the problem.

Yep, only feed these with original RICOH branded toner or you will be asking for all kinds of trouble.

      What Zax said.

I have had a couple of customers try to get by with non OEM color toner and it just wrecked drums like crazy.

The non OEM toner has a bad tendency to coat the charge rollers for starters and I have also seen them just decide to dust drums like crazy as well as the toner doesn't work well with the developer unit.

There are SP modes to run registration, but they are also subject to failure as well. Typically if you can't do it using user tools, then it will also fail using the SP mode.

Agreed! I wonder how that customer is going to feel about that great deal on toner now that they may need 4 pcu's, 4 dev changes, and a full new set of Genuine toner.

I've got a customer that I went to recently, I noticed non genuine black toner in the machine and questioned the customer, she said they bought it because it's cheaper, imagine her face when I told her that toner was inclusive in their contract
I ordered a full set of toners for them and persuaded them to put the unused colour toners on eBay

Not quite the same thing, but I had a customer get bitten by the toner pirates. Supplies were included with the machine's contract, but she got nailed for $800.00 for 1 tube of color toner. Needless to say, she wasn't happy when I informed her that she had been taken.

I really loathe people like that. They know what they are doing is wrong and that they are screwing over customers yet they seem to have no issue with it. Very sad.

For what it is worth, back in the day we learned that many toner pirates were trying to become actors. They would use drama to get people to do things that a thoughtful person would find stupid.
Best I can tell none of them ever amounted to anything in the cinema though, so I guess there's that.
