[Misc] VERY slow scan to folder

I have a customer with an SCX8030. They recently went through a router change and now the performance has really tanked when scanning to folder. Printing is fast enough and the device is pretty responsive to pings. However, when it comes to scanning to a shared folder on a local PC, it literally takes more than 10 minutes and nothing happens to the job.

The SMB test passed but it took approximately 5 minutes to show success.

Has anyone else encountered this type of issue?

...are you using IP Address or Hostname for the file path?

What type of network equipment (router) was installed?

Is the MFP using the proper DNS for the LAN? If scan destinations (computers) are using DHCP, you should be able to use the computer hostname in the path.

I have seen some "business" routers, Comcast mainly, which when assigning have separate public and private IP addressing scheme. I had to go into the router admin page and specifically select for each device to be assigned the private scheme so all devices could see each other! IMO, that router was total CRAP!...If you have wired devices on your network that are all hardwired, you shouldn't have to jump through "stupid hoops" like that to get things to work.

If done correctly, it should be zero config and zero conflict!--aside from setting correct hostname and password for each destination!

      qbert69,

The Samsung is a static IP not a host name. Unfortunately, I didn't check the router make. I didn't check the DNS (my bad) I skipped it because I was using hard coded IP's. I had suggested to the customer that it may necessary to have their IT look inside the router for anything odd.

        Hesitant guess....
        I don't know the SCX8030
Is the new router network speed faster than old router ?
If so, can the MFD communicate at the higher speed?
