Samsung CLX-3185 transfer belt error

I just bought this printer cheap. The seller fitted a new transfer belt and it shows "Transfer belt error".
I've tried taking out and refitting the transfer belt a few times and in tech mode I reset the transfer belt counter to zero but it still has the error so it won't print anything.

I've no idea how, but I took the transfer belt out again, put it back in like I've done a few times before. This time when I powered on the printer it asked to choose the country. I chose UK and it now works.

I spoke too soon. It managed to print a few pages and the transfer belt error is back again.
So it has changed from a permanent error to an intermittent error.
