    Samsung HDD's

Has anyone else had HDD issues with the A4 / A3 machines? It seems like over the course of time that we've had Sasmung, we've replaced a ton of these out in the field, especially when the end user has a fax. Fax jobs get stuck, etc. etc.

    Anyone?

How did you format the drives ?, in xp or 7 . go to bootdisk.com and make a win98 bootdisk. installed the failed drive in your desktop or laptop. boot the computer with the win98 bootable cd you made and then fdisk or repartition the drive. then do a quick format . Now you have to format the drive again in ntfs format for the samsung machine to see the drive
Had this problem with scx6345 and our techs was throwing out the drive as you mentioned until i tried the above and found the drives were perfect and for some reason xp could not see the partition of the drive when the faxes corrupted the drive

There is no reason you should format the drives before you take them on site. Plus if the machine is under warranty, just have them send you a new one.

        Re: Samsung HDD's

Any machines that use hard drive may have to be reformatted at some point, due to corruption of data, bad sectors or just wiping the drive for new install. In this case with the samsung where it gets corrupted, the partition cannot be seen in xp when the corrupted drive is hooked up with an external ide adapter and most tech, at least our techs thought the drives were bad. Therefore the fix i mention, was to get the drive up and running again . IF out of warranty and you threw out hundreds, multiply by about 100 and see how much you can save. Also all the drive may not be good when formated, but you have to do it to really find out. The procedure looks long, but if you really follow it, is a breeze compare to paper work and warranty.

        thanks

True....warranty claims process does suck....LOL. For us it seems like they go out within warranty time though, so I guess we've lucked out.
