Have only done a couple of calls on this series and would be driving 30 miles to customer's office and want to be prepared. Didn't anything in SM but user guide states that it is problem in drum unit (SCX-R6345A) and to change it. I will check basic toner related issues but if this is common and has a common solution please advise. Your help is very much appreciated. Frank/ActionPhotocopy

Re: SCX-6345n with toner sensor error
A few thing could cause toner error, the most common cause is the toner drive cam is twisted over time and will not slide out to meet the cam on the toner and you will loose toner drive. the fix is to order a new cam and replace it, a quick field fix is to remove the cam , insert a bit of cotton, like the cotton from a Q-tip, behind the spring so the cam would not retract and engage the toner box permanently thus provide a solid drive. , the second is a bad toner, the last and most unexpected cause is a bad drum that did not make good contact to the charger supply and has been loosing develiper, feel the back of the copy for developer, if you feel developer on the back of the page, it may have lost too much developer and the toner sensor cannot detect the toner level anymore. The SCX-6345 is a very serviceable box, good luck! -
Re: SCX-6345n with toner sensor error
Thank yo very much Tseto for your excellent information. I have one question. I see that there are several toner related messages . One is "toner Supply error" and another is "toner sensor error" . Would the supply error be more likely the cam and the sensor error the drum as the drum unit has tone sensor in it.? FrankComment

Re: SCX-6345n with toner sensor error
You are absolutely correct. When then the flux density drop beyond the minimum, we have a toner sensor error, as flux density exceed a preset maximum we then have a toner supply error. I have both cases happened.Comment
