    [Misc] CLX-FAX150 conversion

    I just set up a new SCX-8030 that has been in our warehouse for awhile. I has a fax unit in another machine (CLX-9350) that is functional and swapped it to the 8030 for our customer. The fax does not show up as installed in the 8030. It comes right back up when replaced in the 9350. Do these get registered to a model perhaps at first install? Any help is greatly appreciated.

      If memory serves me right, the 8030 uses a CLX-100 fax option (but I could be totally wrong).

          Thanks for the quick response. I checked the service manual which specs out the CLX-FAX150. Could the manual perhaps be wrong?

              I wonder if you're dealing with a firmware issue? Perhaps the 9350 was upgraded to a newer f/w (which would include the fax board) and the 8030 is at a lower level so it can't see an upgraded fax board? I'd bring both machines up to latest level and see if the problem remains.
              Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?

                  I was curious about firmware also. Updated 8030 to current version, no luck. Tried an 8040 in office no luck. Put fax back in 9350 did firmware and did the overwrite. Put back in 8040 no luck again. It acts like the fax unit is married to the 9350 somehow and will not register it's presence in any other model. Unfortunately I don't have another 9250/9350 in office to test with. Any other ideas out there?

                      Problem solved! As I switched the fax from one machine to another did not have the install guide. Therefore did not know there were 2 boards that composed the fax system. When I got the Fax controller board with the modem board all was good. Samsung tricked me on this one, never saw a 2 piece fax kit before. Thanks for everyone's help.
