Isn't this just the best fun.

    MX-3640

Today I had a client call up desperately needing service. "My machine is saying jam and there is black stuff coming out the side". WTF

Travelled over 80k's to site to see what the hell was going on.

In the end, obviously, the transfer belt had developed a tear and had just shredded. The thing is, it worked it's way up into the fuser and concertinaed causing major damage to the fuser belt, pressure roller and destroying the separator blade.

On a good note, the office chicks were very impressed with the way I was able to reassemble this mass of bits and get it working.

Here's a pic of my enjoyment.

Not used to seeing such a clean sharp fuser! Had a fuser rebuild yesterday and when I opened it up, it looked like it had been used for nuclear testing.

The first time I seen one of these fusers I thought what the flck. They are handy enough when you do a few. I wonder what caused the transfer belt too rip.

Sharp fuser units are not that bad. They are all the same give or take (lamps, webs, etc).

I see a lot of people people changing whole fuser units because they are so cheap.
It didn't say that I couldn't do it in the manual.
