    Sharp MX-5141 with E7-14 code

The code started showing up a month ago using scan to folder. It is now ocuring about once a day. I have reseated the cables at the scanner ccd and the scu pwb. Tech support says this usually fixes the problem. Haven't replaced any parts yet as I'm wondering if it is really an ADF issue. Anyone have a fix for this?

Had this once on a brand new machine, only solution we had was to replace the SCU board.

Replaced the SCU and CCD cable. The problem has not come back.

Did you update the firmware like Drawranger suggested?

His information was not entirely correct on the firmware. The august firmware was for the cloud update. It was still at SCU: 01.00.R2. There were actually two machines in this office purchased at the same time that were giving E7-14. Installeld SCU and cable in both.

My experience with that code on three different boxes of mx5141s is that the scanner ccd stalls because of the anti fraud feature in those models.
In every case I was able to duplicate the exact original with a check seal or money copied on it was the cause of the failure.
I would ask customer if they notice which page and at what time it happens. You will see the original in question that is the culprit.
The solution was to take off of full color scan and block the check seal ,money seal, or license seal. See if this works for you it will save you from spending more money on boards or waisted trips.

One of these machines started the code again after 3 months of no problems. I will check this out. Thanks for the info.
