    MX-M363U No boot up

This is a school machine that was just moved across campus a couple weeks ago.
Last week we got a call about a blank white screen. We had to haul it back to the shop.

After hitting the main power switch the machine operation panel will stay black and only a few fans spin up.
Only the second power switch lights up on the control panel everything else is unresponsive.
The screen lights up but nothing else happens. After about a minute all the fans spin up and I get the 3 led's blinking on the NIC card, but the screen remains blank.

I replaced the card and have the same problem.
I'm guessing the problem is one of the program chips, but they are unavailable from sharp for some reason. We still have to call them about that...

    Any input guys?

I don't know how to update the firmware in the machines current condition.
I can throw the switch, and get into update mode, But the machine doesn't get past the "Update program Init Please wait"

If id does, maybe try SD card and program Dimm chip. Might help. Nic card probably not your issue.

I had a similar problem and ended up changing the SD card on the MFP PWB. Then the hard drive. That fixed it. To update the firmware with the black screen I'd try the serviceman webpage. You could also try from the service manual...

DIP-SW used in the CN update modeTo enter the CN update mode, set DIP-SW1 and DIP-SW2 on the
          MFP PWB as shown below:
          DIP-SW1 ON: CN update mode
DIP-SW2 OFF: OFF in the normal mode

But this will not work if the screen is out.

I meant mfp not NIC. Just replaced it and no luck.

There is no networking or HD on this model. No SD either.

Replacing the boot chip didn't help either.

Had similar symptoms on machine with data security kit. Customer relocated to a pool against our wishes. PRG1 ROM chip rusted over and became unresponsive. They had to buy a whole new DSK.

I would suggest trying to replace the PRG1 ROM chip and see how it fares for you.

I'm at a loss here. We have about 20 of these machines, so we have the parts to swap just about everything.

ALL of the chips have been replaced along with all the green boards. Actually the motherboard hasn't been touched yet, so that's next on the list.

I just hate playing the swapping game, if you know what I mean.

It's a necessary evil, I would be happy I didn't have to order the parts new to try the shotgun approach.

                      UPDATE

All control and power PWB's have been replaced and still the problem persists.

I guess it's possible one of the boards were confused and the old one went back in instead of the new one, although that's very unlikely. But, I'm going to replace all the boards again just to be sure.

Up next is harness inspection and replacing and I am really not looking forward to that.

                      Still open to other suggestions.

It WAS the system 256 RAM on the MFP board.

                        Fixed.
