Had an interesting problem on a 503. Customer said it started out as a U5-00, a short time later copier was dead. We took out a loaner and brought machine into shop.
We replaced mother board and copier turned back on, much to our relief. Unfortunately about an hour later copier was dead again. About 20 minutes later I walked by copier and noticed a large paper clip laying on the document feeder board, I unplugged copier and removed paper clip, copier came back to life. Today I disassembled document feeder and found a whole handful of clips and a couple of staples. It is amazing what finds its way inside of copiers.
