MXC 311 CE 00 error when scanning

Getting a CE 00 when scanning to network folder. It was set up about a week ago and worked fine until last Friday when their IT guy said he installed some windows updates for win7 professional and rebooted the server. When I got there this morning, it was scanning fine but just as I was leaving it coded to CE 00 again. I can ping the server from the copier, but it initially for a split second says host unavailable, then pings just fine. Pinging from the server works fine as well as printing. Oh, and the customer is using comcast as their ISP. I am not sure if this may be the problem or not, but I have heard other techs say they have had problems with comcast in the past.

thanks in advance for the help

If it is intermittent showing host unavailable while pinging this usually means something on the network is sharing an ip address. I would also check the destination , also make sure windows firewall is allowing the machine in. If a windows update was performed sometimes it resets windows firewall or i have seen it turn it on when it was off before. You could just be being blocked access by the server while accessing the folder when it sends the scan.

      Thanks for your response!!

It is intermittent, but there are only three devices that I know of on the system. That said, it is comcast and I do believe the phone system is involved with the network. I am not sure. The phones are all on the data lines (cat5/6) rather than an rj45. Do you think that the phones could be taking the IP address?

Re: MXC 311 CE 00 error when scanning :: RE :: Comcast!

I was at a location that had gotten a new Comcast business router (made by Arris (Arris bought out Motorola))....anyway they had print/scan problems and come to find out, the router *seemed* to randomly assign public and private IP addresses...when this happened, the user couldn't print or scan, so I had to go into the router web monitor and strictly assign the address for the particular device to be private so every everything linked up correctly....stupid design!

Anyway from personal experience (I have Comcast at home) I always use a Cable modem (power, cable & ethernet connection) and a separate Netgear wired/wireless router, with a switch or two downstream for extra ethernet ports. Haven't had any problems!

PS--I'll take Comcast any day over AT&T for high speed internet!

Thanks!!! I will check that out. I was thinking that might be the problem.
