    MX-3100 Very Light prints

    Hi everyone,
Getting almost completely blank prints on a MX-3100. When I stop the copies half way you can see that there is plenty of toner on the primary belt but it is not getting transferred to the paper. Tried replacing the High voltage 2TC PWB, the MC PWB and the 1TC PWB. I have also tried a different secondary assembly. I have brought the machine back to the shop and I have a parts machine but was wondering if anyone else has has this before I start swapping more boards.

    Thanks
    Dean

Do a black shy shot, if you get zebra striping all accross the page you have a developer pull situation and you will need to rebuild the drum unit and replace the developer. Also check the seals on the waste toner collector, if the seals are weak get a new one in there to prevent future developer pulls. You can test this with all 4 colors.

Sorry I guess I should have mentioned it does this on all four colors. It is not a developer problem.

I once received a 2nd transfer power board that was defect , it took me a long ride to find out the culprit, sometime sharp send board refurb, make sure this board is known to be good !! since your image is good on the primary ,the secondary should be the designated culprit.

        Good luck

It's been 5 months since the last post but I was wondering if you looked at the LSU shutter solenoid and shutters. Make sure the solenoid operates fully and the plastic slide opens and closes properly. you can cheat it for testing by propping them open to see if your image improves. If so, you may have found your prob.

I would check your primary belt and make sure the drive gear and the main gear on the belt assembly itself. I have seen the gear on the belt get stripped and the pin bend and slip out of place.
