"Scan to a Sharp" or scan from a Sharp?
Scanning to a Mac will go to a FTP folder.

SMB (scan to folder) works with Mac os 10.6.8 , then apple changed smb in 10.7 to 10.8 and scan to folder for sharp didn't work , then starting with mac os 10.9.5 Maverick up to El Capitan smb works on mxm2610 series and newer color mfps with postscript and mxm264 and newer monochrome mfps with postscript. go into system preferences on the mac , then sharing, turn on windows sharing and create your shared folder. Newer verisions of Mac os , starting with 10.7 I belive has ftp turned off, you have to go into terminal and enter command line to turn on mac os ftp.

        Here's a Tech tip.
First create your folder, and enable file sharing to that folder in system preferences. Make sure it's Read/Writable.

I've always found scanning to Mac really easy but...
        I have encountered three problems.
        1. The user did not have a password, and they refused to put a password. This method NEEDS user name and password.
        2. In the terminal, where your write your commands, your password is rejected. Even though you know for SURE it's the right password.
        and lastly,
        3. The local pc where FTP is installed, changed IP address.

Other than this, it's really straight forward. I average about... 5 minutes per computer for setting up scanning in Mac.

        Good luck!

Scan to Folder (SMB) on Mac OS X is a little bit janky...especially with the newer OS X iterations of El Capitan and such. You may have to install SMBUp:

            SMBUp – eduo.info

which disables native OS X SMB and uses an open source implementation called Samba.

            Good Luck!
