    [Misc] Sharp engineering mode

    Hello

I have a new technician that has been clearing the total counts when doing PMs. As you can imagine we have been finding machines for months with cleared total meters. Up until now we have been able to go in and correct them on machines like the MXM753 with sim 81 in engineering mode. But now we are finding machines that this engineering code doesn't work. I have an MXM264N that i cant get in to reset the total count and a newer machine MX3640N that it doesn't work as well. Can anyone help me with this nightmare?

    Thanks

I have been told by sharp that those days are gone. They don't have special code anymore.

Thats what they are telling us as well(I dont really believe them). But the MXM264 is an older machine.

No mas, Sharp doesn't allow that anymore.

If you need 'total counts' imputed, I believe you will have to send all EEPROMS to Sharp for reprograming.
A costly and time consuming procedure. (But, I could be totally wrong about that)

That's just down right tragic. From what I hear the engineering mode needs a clear template with holes in it, you put it down on the touch screen and press the holes with a stylus in the correct pattern. Pretty much impossible now.

That sucks. I figured they had to have a back door and hoped someone here might know it.

              Thanks for the responses

Can I point out the obvious that if this "Engineering Mode" did exist there is no way I or likely anyone else here would post it in a public forum!

Now the engineering mode does exist on Sharp Jupiter series models but, as far as I know, they are the last generation of sharp copiers to have it. If someone, as in a customer or dealer, uses it to change meter counts either up or down manually and you suspect foul play. There is a secondary sim where you can check total drum revolutions and calculate the true page count. Honestly there is no reason for anyone to be in there.

                  Re: Sharp engineering mode

Even if no one would post it on this thread it would have been possible for them to private message me or even call me at my dealership. Problem solved there. As for there being no reason to be in there, there is. AS i stated in my original post, I have a technician who accidentally reset the total count seem, if that sim was located in engineering mode he would not have been able to reset it. So actually what shouldn't exist is the sim in Service mode that allows you to change the total count. So the ability to manipulate the counter exists to any technician in the field. Is that not insane?

                    Re: Sharp engineering mode

This was a tech tip from few years ago, should still be current for newer machines, sim 24-06 only resets the counts that the end user sees when the press copy or the home key. sim 22-01 still has total output counts and sim 24-06 still shows counts. I know only Sharp uses 24-06 resets in our area, as we have a couple of Sharp customers(or Sharp via out of state dealer) and had to reset 24-06 counts I think twice a year. We have been thinking about using that also , we charge separately for color copies and bill it by getting the color counts and subtracting from previous month/quarter. Then you get we didn't make that many copies argument from some customers, resetting the count on a monthly/quarterly basis would help with that.

Models: MX2300N, MX3100N, MX3110N, MX5110N, DXC310, DXC311, MX4111N Resetting counts is not reversible. Simulation 24-06 is designed for contract renewal purposes and counts cannot be re-entered. When servicing, use Sim 22-6 for actual meter counts, since counters displayed in Sim 22-06 are not reset when using simulation 24-06
