AR-M455 Frozen Display - Doesn't come to ready

    Hi All,
When the copier is powered up, the display just sits at the start-up position. (The sharp logo is displayed, but there is nothing else happening. No little stars floating around.) Machine never comes to ready - A fan comes on then shuts off and that is it.

Can't get into the service mode. There is no beep when pressing the keys. I have tried a new main board and a power supply.

    Has anyone seen this before?

    Thanks!

when you say main board are you referring the MFP board that slides out from the back, the board with the nic and fax card if installed
When I started servicing copiers they used toaster ovens for fusers.....I'm old

What PWB did you replace? If you have a (N) model check/replace the HDD. Check/replace the Program chips and the memory. Check/ replace the MFP PWB. Check replace the PCU PWB. That's my guess in the order I would do it.

The main board I'm talking about is TLABZ5148FCZZ. It's the board on the back, not the NIC board. I didn't even think to try the nic board. That'll be my next step. If that doesn't work, I'll try disconnecting the hdd to see what happens.

        Thanks guys!

I had a boatload of those on the field and never had a HDD fail, maybe I was just lucky but I have seen the issue you describe as a bad MFP board a couple times. Also on the MFP board next to the battery is a connector with no wires, it is a jump connector, pull the connector and spread the prongs a little bit then reseat the jump connector.

Push the MFP board by hand and DO NOT install the 5 screws, plug in the scanner cable and see if boots up. I've had it where the screws cause the MFP board to miss align. If it works for you use only the center screw to hold the MFP board in place and hand tighten.

Have you tried disconnecting network cable to see if it would warm up. Had a corrupt file once on a similiar copier.. Had to have customer
cancel print job from their workstation. Just a thought.

Well, I tried a new scanner main board. No luck. BTW - this machine was not networked, so it wasn't a corrupted file. (I have seen that before.) I forgot about disconnecting the HDD...Damn. The customer (state office) is taking the machine out of service, so it's not my problem anymore. Next time I see this I'll be sure to try the HDD.

Thanks again for all the help guys!
