OK I have an odd one!

Like my subject line says this is an odd one. I have an ARM257 that customer has had for awhile. Two days ago one of our techs was there doing routine maint. work and mentioned to the customer they have the ability to scan which they weren't using. He attempted to set up scan to email but when he tried sending an email it failed due to incorrect smtp settings. He informed them that their IT person would have to set up the correct info. Next day -yesterday- get a call from the IT guy, when he went to scan by selecting scan key, message came up that that option was not enabled so the reason for call. Remember day before tech able to get to scan input screen. I instructed him to go into product key activation area to see if network scan key was enabled by being black, it was. Had him go into sim 22-10 to see if MX-NSX1 in list, no it was not. Only thought was perhaps scan capability came up for other tech because unit was in trial mode and just so happened the 2 or 3 attempts to scan were the last ones in trial. Today went to site to confirm if that may have been the situation, but upon arrival unit was not in trial mode, and could be put into trial mode, which indicates, trail was not used up. Physically checked that added memory needed for scanning was installed and it was. All indications are that unit should be scan enabled. When going into product key input today the key for network can enable is no longer black and if selected of coarse goes to screen to input code. I need to mention that this unit was picked up on service so we have no info and activation codes. Called Sharp Tech support and although they gave me no answer to how or why this would happen, they do show history of this happening on this model once before. Instructed me to email from Sharp activation web site to request code for this unit. I guess my question is, has anyone had such a nutty thing happen or know why it could happen? Thanks Paul

Since the trial mode is still available why don't you give it a try until it finishes (50 scans i think), i have to admit that it is quite an odd issue

Just wanted to update this with the solution. Sharp furnished me with original activation key so quickly that I get the impression this is a known issue. All's well that ends well.
