    MX2600n Icum:ROM UNUSUAL

    Hello

I have 3xMX2600n which came with removed HDD. Actually I found all HDDs in a Cabinet so I installed them but it looks like machines need firmware update as it displays IcuM:ROM UNUSUAL message.
Do I need emergency firmware, normal firmware or both?
Can I install any HDD or it has to be specify one for the copier (like in old canons machines)?

I hope any experienced engineers can help me.

    Tom

    Updating F/W solved the problem.

One machine displays E7-03 so it means that HDD need to be replaced.
Does anybody can share emergency f/w please?
Can I install any 80GB HDD drive on the machine?

Check which firmware you need- DSK or non-DSK.

You can look at the firmware chips on the mfp board to determine if it has a data security kit or not. If it does the chips will say something beginning with FR-33u or something like that before boot and main. I can get the firmware for you. Also you can use pretty much any hard drive in them if it's at least the size of the original type or larger. You will need to basically em update the machine with the new hard drive and firmware on a USB. That will fix it. If you need a step by step I can give it to you

Here you go. Pay close attention to the renaming of the firmware file.

Environment necessary for the emergency update]
                      1) The MFP with the HDD where the firmware is rewritten
                      2) The USB memory which stores the firmware for the emer-
                      gency upgrade.
                      File name: emupdate_p2.sfu
                      * The firmware must be stored in the root folder of the USB
                      memory.
                      [Emergency update procedures]
                      1) Insert the USB memory which stores the firmware for the
emergency update into the USB port.
                      2) Turn on the main power.
The firmware for the emergency update in the USB memory is
automatically recognized to start reading the USB memory.
It takes about 1 minute, and the booting animation is displayed
                      during this period.
                      3) Check to confirm that "EmergencyUpdateMode" is displayed
                      on the panel.
After that, the process is automatically executed.
