Usually the cause is somebody putting in the tray from a paper desk into the machine

There should be a screw that is on the rear right of the trays to prevent that, so unless someone removes that screw and inverts it from the deck trays it cannot be installed in the top ports. I have had this problem and replacing the tray sensor bank fixed it.

There is usually a tab that gets pushed back when you push in your tray (like a white piece of plastic) that's connected to the feed station. When that tab pushes back it releases the pick up assembly. That sensor goes bad sometimes. It will read that the tray is not pushed in. pretty sure its on that model. The sensor is called "CLUD2"
