    Tray 2 not recognized

Have a sharp mx 453 that is not recognizing tray 2.

    Have checked sensors and motors.

What should be the next trouble shooting steps.

Replace the sensor bank located inside the cassette port on the rear frame (square black plastic, removes with one screw and one connector) this is usually the cause
When I started servicing copiers they used toaster ovens for fusers.....I'm old

Usually the cause is somebody putting in the tray from a paper desk into the machine

There should be a screw that is on the rear right of the trays to prevent that, so unless someone removes that screw and inverts it from the deck trays it cannot be installed in the top ports. I have had this problem and replacing the tray sensor bank fixed it.

Sensor banks are the same for each port, you can swap them to troubleshoot, good luck.

We had a 365 doing the same thing.

We tried replacing many parts and updating the firmware with no success.

We finally copied the eprom from another machine and pushed it into the problem machine.

There is usually a tab that gets pushed back when you push in your tray (like a white piece of plastic) that's connected to the feed station. When that tab pushes back it releases the pick up assembly. That sensor goes bad sometimes. It will read that the tray is not pushed in. pretty sure its on that model. The sensor is called "CLUD2"
