    Sharp MX-M 363n

Working on trying to solve a problem on a 363. For a couple days now only in the morning the copier displays "Network interface unavailable" and there is no LEDS light up at the nic. I simply go into network settings and view the IP, but not make any changes, just hit OK. Copier goes through its reboot process, comes to ready and the nic is lit and the machine prints fine, all day. Then the customer calls the next day with the same issue, in the morning upon turning it on and has happened for a couple days now. Any ideas? Possible faulty network interface board?

I would first check to see if the network is turned off at night and then turned on in the morning along with the copier and the copier is booting first and not finding the network before it is up and running. if they are both on all the time the network may be having issues at night. I would check the network before tearing into the copier.

Thank you for your advice , I am going back there first in the morning to try and catch the issue, I am also bringing another MFP board but will check the things you mention first.

Is the IP the same every day? Check network protocols

If setup for dhcp, then switch to a fixed ip to rule out any dhcp trouble.

Check the customers network switch, there are energy save switches out there now, if the switch sees a port that has no activity for certain amount of time it shuts off the port. have run into this a couple of times. sometimes setting mfp to fast wakeup instead of low power(default) in the energy save setting may help.

Thanks for replies. I had gone back the next day and no problems to be found, machine did not repeat the original problem and could not find a reason.

Then today I get a call that it has a U2 91 error (PCU EEPROM checksum) I cleared in sim 16 and it rebooted and went immediately into a F1 00 code. Reset the F1 code and machine working fine... So now I'm wondering if the PCU board or eeprom issue, or if it is an issue at the internal finisher PCU. I have heard about the FNX9 finisher PCU boards going but never had one go bad here.

And are we to assume that all of your firmware is up today?

                      Yes.

I am also suspecting AC power fluctuations, they had a F1 00 and a U2 91 about 4 weeks ago, it is in an old house that was converted to an office many years ago and they moved the copier to the kitchen area sharing circuit with a refrigerator and other appliances just before that ( about 5 weeks ago), I told them they need to get the copier on its own circuit. I have read that dirty power can cause random U2 codes.
                      Problem is weird.

                        Re: Sharp MX-M 363n

Problem solved, went back today with another finisher (FNX9) to swap due to the F1 00 codes. Upon very close inspection at the finisher connect, copier side frame I noticed one of the two plastic tangs on the connecter that hold it in place would collapse when lightly pushed on, otherwise looked normal. The finisher connector was not making full contact, was not fully snapping in place due to that but appeared to be. The customer had moved the machine to the different area in the office as I mentioned previously and must have hit that connector, probably on a door jam going from the other room. This explains the F1 00 codes and probably the U2 91 as well due to lost signals intermittent at that connector. The loss of network connection in the original post was an issue with the network as reported from their IT. So time will tell but I think this problem has been resolved.

Don't forget to screw it in this time. Lol. I have more than one customer that has done that to me
