I have an MX-M283N that makes a squeaking noise when printing. I have already removed and greased the paper feed drive pack, removed, cleaned and lubed paper feed cassettes to no effect. I also swapped the paper feed drive pack with a unit from a different machine and still the noise is there. Yesterday we cheated the right side door to see if we could more directly pin down the source. No luck. The noise is still there even when the door is open which eliminates the registration unit, the transfer roller, and the carrier rollers in the door. I have used my trusty bottle of Tri-flow on every exposed gear, and roller. Any thoughts on this situation would be welcome. The noise isn't too loud, but the customer will be less than 6 feet from the machine, and in a pretty small office so I would like to eliminate the noise if possible. Thanks in advance for your time.

Re: Noise from a MX-M283N
many times I find the plastic pinch rollers to be the source of the noise...I also had a machine in which one of the shafts of the feed rollers was squeaking with the brass bushing in the rear of the machine...first I identified the problem by just feeling the end of the roller and you could feel the vibration of the squeak ... rather than remove and disassemble everything, I placed the tip of a screwdriver right next to the bushing and gave a few taps until the noise went away... it could also be the dev unit...they can leak out the back...Comment

Re: Noise from a MX-M283N
the dev unit is brand new and there is no significant dusting in the machine. I should note that the squeak only happens when the paper feed cassettes are pulling paper. there is no noise when the drive pack is only powering the registration unit, and like I said before, the noise is present even when the door is open eliminating the non powered rollers as a source of noise. I'm adding this info to help you all help me. thanks for your time!Comment

Re: Noise from a MX-M283N
Does it make the noise from all cassettes?
Does it make the noise from the bypass feeder?
Run the fuser motor in simulation mode to see if it may be the fuser.
You can run the paper feed drive and different clutches at the same time in simulation mode to see what roller may make the noise.Comment

Re: Noise from a MX-M283N
The issue has been resolved. It turns out it was a bushing from paper feed cassette 1. I want to thank you all for your time, and input. It's guys like you that make this forum work.Comment
