    Sharp MX-3640

We picked up a used 3640 that is leaving a 1/2 inch off color line on copies both B/W and color (see attachment)
Internal prints are good. Firmware is up to date.
we have tried new transfer belt, the off color line is appearing on the belt which leads me to think drums, but we tried a complete set of new drum units and no change.
I have cleaned the laser slits and also all the optics on the scanner and new charge units were in the drum units.
There are 49,600 copies on the machine.

Hi I would check the optics again every thing seems to point to them. Give the lamp a good clean with solvent cleaner.Ive had something similar before and cleaning the lamp cured the problem

Since internal prints look good It would be a optical problem, Try scanning to PC or do a preview and see if it showa up there.

print a 64-1. this will show which color is faded in that area. if it's not the laser glass it's likely some debris on the mag roller of the dev unit

            solution for problem

I cleaned the mirrors with alcohol and that moved the mark on the page so I really scrubbed the mirrors with alcohol and that took care of my problem.
            Thanks for everybodys help.

              Re: solution for problem

Another common issue is toner dropping onto the laser lens and will cause a void or discolored line in some cases. Its easy to check before changing parts out and fixes about 50 percent of the issues we see. YMMV

I'm going with a dev blockage also.
