    [Error Code] Write Protect Error! MXM850

    Unable to update firmware with external memory, boot mode or webpage. With all attempts I get a "Write Protect Error!" message.
    After contacting the hotline, I have replaced the MFPC PWB, print 512 memory (to get rid of PPD_PRI jam), and had the EEPROMs reprogrammed to get the ability to update firmware back. Still get write protect error.

    In order this is what happen...
    PPD_PRI
    Tried firmware, got write protect error
    Replaced Memory
    Tried a MFPC PWB, machine would not boot, three green LEDS flashing on MFPC, sent back to Sharp
    Had EEPROMs replaced and programmed, no avail
    Replaced MFPC PWB with working board, machine boots, got back print ability (MXPB11), still not able to update firmware

    I need the firmware to update now to get the DSK back after EEPROMs were reprogrammed.

      Has anyone else ever seen this before or am I the only one?

          check sim 22-10 to see if there is a security kit installed in this machine. If so will have to get the firm ware for that security kit which also had machine firmware included

              I have not seen this issue, no. Might be a silly question, but if you are using USB stick to upgrade firmware, could it be that your USB stick is write protected? Or perhaps the file? Have you tried renaming your file "emupdate.sfu"?

                  The USB is not protected. I've tried different USB sticks. But, I don't think I have tried to rename the file emupdate yet. I'll try it again.

                      The kit has been installed on the machine but I don't remember if I have tried to update the firmware with the machine firmware instead of the DSK firmware which shouldn't work, but maybe it does.

                              The SD card didnt have the write protect button pushed did it? Possibly a silly query but Im gonna ask.

                                      Solved it by flipping a jumper on the mainboard if i remember correctly.
