    Sharp ARM257 TX Problem

I have a customer who cannot transmit faxes to certain numbers. Fax error codes include ERROR03 and ERROR07; I cannot find any of these in any service documentation. The MFP will dial and connect to these numbers but then disconnect and print a transaction report with the error. Is this an ECM issue? Am I on the right track? I'm grasping at straws at this point. Any and all help will be greatly valued.

There are so many variables when it comes to fax transmission. Turning ECM on/off is an option but I've never been successful just doing that. Apparently it can fax because you said "trouble with some destinations". So that rules out the fax, interface equipment they use, the lines, Telephone company, etc. I would look at the destinations and their equipment. Has your client TX to them in the past successfully and has something changed on the distant end recently?

Error 3 (send side) may be the FTT (failure to train) signal
Error 7 (send side) may be the DCN (no signal, disconnect) signal

Sorry to be so vague but there's so much involved. Being the end unit on a fax line, if it doesn't work 100% of the time the client assumes there's something wrong with your equipment and it's easier to call you out. If it works calling locally and a long-distance number to other lines I can't see how you can fix something that aint broke.

Thanks for the reply niceville. You aren't being vague at all. After talking to a local Sharp dealer, it is quite clear that this customer needs to move on and upgrade. The AR-FX7 has some innate issues and, as you stated, their are many, many variables. Sometimes I forget it's 2017 and not 2007.

We had a problem like that on a different model sharp and it turned out to be the fax to wall cord. Sharp says it has to be a 2 wire cord. Ours was a 4 wire cord. When we put a 2 wire on it worked fine. I never knew there was different cords. May not be your problem but something simple to check.
