    MX4140 ADF Misfeed (ICU_REQ)

Leading edge of the original reaches the slit glass and then stops and registers a Misfeed in document feeder. I checked all sensors in service mode and all are switching just fine. I replaced the whole ADF Assembly with another 4140 and another RSPF with a 5140 and all 3 ADFs are doing the same thing!

Maintenance Report shows SPF jams labeled as ICU_REQ. see following:

    170718 MX4140.jpg

Manual says that ICU_REQ is a ICU factor stop jam.

RSPF is connected to SCN, then to Mother, then to PCU. My thoughts are to replace the SCN first, then Mother, then PCU...etc.

Anyone had this problem before? Any tips and suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

Tech Tip TT-010814_1 is for Hercules series, but may be the answer to your issue. It states "When using the DSPF a ICU_REQ jam may be logged when copying large amounts of originals or scanningat high resolutions if MFP PWB RAM is failing. Replace the DDR3 DIMM memory (1GB) on the MFP PWB inslot DIMM1." Hope that helps?

      Thanks moose!

I'll try this and let you know. I searched the bulletins under ICU_REQ and that tip never showed up, I'm still getting used to searching on that website.

Technical Tip? Where can i find technical tips?

on the EU site, there are only Technical Reports.
If i search there for "ICU_REQ", i only find ROM UPDATES and SERVICE MANUALS.

Replaced DIMM, SCN CTL PWB, and Mother PWB... no dice.

I got to order the MFP PWB next. I've never replaced the MFP PWB. According to the manual I need to use the old flash, eeprom and dimms and transfer them to the new PWB, is that correct? Have any of you replaced just the MFP PWB on the 4140/5140s?

            Thanks!

Yes, you do need to transfer the EEPROM and DIMM's to the new MFP PWB. Otherwise you get an error code.
