    MX6500 Quality Issue

Hi all im having a bit of an issue with an MX6500. Prints and self prints are perfect but if a copy is done on the machine its terrible, but if I do a duplex copy using the document feeder (which reads one side and optics read other) one side is ok the other terrible again. Through process of elimination it can only be the lamp unit or CCD but which lol... anyone else had anything similar and may be give me an idea.
examples attached first page is a self print and second is the fault.

**UPDATE** there are a few E7-14 Error codes in its memort which points to the SCU PWB???

I had something very similar happen to me with an MX-5141. Replacing the CCD fixed my issue. That is where I would start.

Thanks thats one of the posibilities, but have checked the error log and its showing some E7-14 which points to the SCU pwb problem is i dont have either part to swap to test lol...

The perfect situation would be to have both the SCU PWB and CCD when you go back. I know most dealers don't like that idea ($'s). I believe I tried the SCU PWB first on the MX-5141, and obviously it ended up being the CCD. The E7-14 refers to data error between the CCD and PWB. The machine thinks the CCD is working because you are still reading image. I would still recommend trying the CCD first. Just my experience???

Cheaper option also lol.... its just a bit of a pisser now as the copier is mainly a printer with 1.2 million prints through it its only done 5k copies lol....

You may want to calibrate the CCD first using a SIT chart or using Sim 63-05.

                Re: MX6500 Quality Issue

Hi again, right the new CCD has arrived this morning and i now have nice clean copies lol... the thing is and i know im going to go back a few years to the older sharp kit when changing the lens you had to enter the lens ref number (the old ccd lense is -5 the new one is -3) there was a ref table you needed to get your figures to enter from. I can not find this anywhere in the service manual, have Sharp done away with this now? does the copier just auto adjust to the new lens? any info would be great.
                Thanks again.

After doing these adjustments ^^^ you may need to go through the image adjustments depending on copy quality. The SIT chart and Sim 63-05 should get you pretty close.

If you go into SIM 63-1 (I think it is 63-1) and look at the display value for CCD gain; there is one for the OC and one for the DSPF. If the number low, around 10, the CCD / CIS unit is causing the code.
Don't forget SIT, gamma, and shading adjustments as well as the 50-28 adjustments pertaining to optics and DSPF (OC, Blk Mag, and SPF adjustments).
