Hey everyone!

So I ended up calling a tech and was able to get the firmware downloaded. Once I put the files on a flash drive, it came up with saying system error once I tried to install it on my printer. I have a few questions. Since I put a brand new HDD in the machine, is there a file systems format that i need to put the hdd to? Does the files systems format matter for my flash drive when trying to install the firmware from it? please let me know if there is anything that anyone could help me with regarding this issue.

If you replaced a HDD I recommend doing the emergency firmware flash. I would also have your firmware file with the .sfu extention as a primary file (not in a folder or else it won't read it). Best way to do it is just to copy the file with the .sfu, and paste it to your flashdrive. Also make sure your machine does not have a security kit on it or else you will need firmware specific for your security kit.

On some of these older Frontier machines (b/c402 family) the firmware file must be renamed for emergency firmware to work. Something like "emupdate_p2.sfu", or something similar. Check the service manual to verify for this model. Tou will also need to flip the switch on the MFP pwb to do an emergency update.
