Sharp MX 5111 the screen icons disappear and the screen locks up

IMG_0794.JPGBelow is a sample of what happens on this Sharp Mx 5111. The screen just locks up and no icons are on the display but some dots. You have to hit the power button and reboot for it to unlock itself.
How do you reset the display to factory reset?

I would suggest the first thing would be to go into "emergency boot" mode, and try a firmware rewrite?
