Shaded line in auto exposure MX-M465N

Does anyone know what causes (& fixes) a 3-4mm shaded line at the lead edge of these MX-M365N/M465N/M565N machines? Have seen this out-of-the-box, so it isn't going to be related to consumables. Only by increasing the exposure level for Auto in Sim. 46-02 to much lighter than normal (based on a gray scale) will you eliminate this. It's as if the auto exposure sensor can't react fast enough to the original as it starts its scan. Of course, manual exposure modes do NOT exhibit this problem.

Just to clarify - the shaded line, which runs the length of the page, actually measures about 2mm and overlays the 1st 2mm of printed image on the copy.

The fix for this problem is to change the setting in Sim 46-32 which Sharp calls "Adjust the reproducibility of the document background density in the automatic copy mode." It adjusts how the AE sensor reacts to the background. Anyway, a higher number such as "230" vs. the default value of "196" for the mode you experience the problem in (e.g. OC mode) will eliminate this shaded line at the beginning of the scan.

i would recommend trying to run 50-28 adjustments and see if this resolves it. I had a 3070 doing something similar and while they dont have 50-28, 50-10 adjustments fixed it...which do the same in older models with 50-28.

The problem many of us were experiencing is a generally washed-out, high-contrast image that doesn't reproduce halftones well. So you lower the exposure level for Auto, and you get a shaded line at the beginning of the scan - right at the edge of the void area (which, let's say is 2-3mm). Yes, you can hide it by increasing the void to 5mm or more. But more properly, you want to understand what is causing this. The auto exposure sensor, based on the setting of Sim 46-32, reacts differently to the background level of the original. In many cases, the auto exposure sensor doesn't react fast enough to the background it perceives, and you get this shading at the beginning of the scan. Change those 46-32 parameters and, not only do you get better halftone reproduction in auto, but the shaded line disappears.
