    [Electrical] mSATA Cards

    Just a few questions to those of you in the know about these problematic mSATA cards.

    1. What size are the mSATA card used on the MX-4070 (or generally on the newer Sharp models)?
    2. Are you replacing the mSATA card with a genuine Sharp part or have you found a better retail alternative?
    3. Have you guy's been primarily replacing the mSATA card? or have you just been formatting and restoring them from a backup image?

    I've not any problems at the moment, all our Sharp's are running fine on the latest firmware.
    But I was thinking it may be a good idea to start making back ups at the PDI / workshop setup stage.

      We were replacing them with new Sharp OEM mSata chips but thanks to a post on this forum we are now using HDDRaw copy and reformatting mSata chips. Had 3 go bad in the last 6 months. Was able to reformat 2 of them without any problems and tested on a shop copier. 1 I am still having issues with and figure it is just toast. Pretty straight forward operation as long as you have a good chip to copy from!! Size of the chip is 16Gb.

          16Gb, that's pretty small.

          I not seen one of the Sharp mSATA cards in the flesh yet, but I would assume a enclosure like this would be suitable for cloning/backup purposes?

              Looks correct. We purchased the USB 2.0 as not all of our computers have a 3.0 connector.

                  You can fit any as long as its bigger in capacity so 64g are quite cheap to buy this is same with hdd drives also

                  so some machines use 320g some use 500g hdd so I just stock 500 fit to both machines makes life more easy lol
