Developer Unit swap out Sharp MX 2700n

My black developer unit on my Sharp MX 2700n is broken. I cannot find a replacement ANYWHERE (I've looked all over online. My copier is pretty obsolete and parts are extremely difficult to find). I did, however, find a reasonably priced magenta developer unit.

IS there any way to use the magenta as a replacement for the black? Are there differences other than the color of the markings on the front?

I haven't opened the broken black unit yet, but the roller doesn't spin when you turn the plastic piece on the end by hand. I assume there is a plastic gear with its teeth stripped out because I heard a sound before it quit like gears stripping out. (Loud, grinding noise while the toner was replenishing) I don't know, as I said, I haven't opened it up yet.

I'm a bit frustrated, as I am in the middle of an important job. It never quits when I am just running things for myself or for fun.

You can NOT swap developer units. Sorry. You can get developer units for this machine at precisionroller that's where we get a lot of stuff that we don't normally stock. A google search will get you to that site. This part is still available through Sharp as well.

    Good luck.

I am not 100 percent shure about that model but on a lot of other color sharp models I have swapped the developers. On those I had to remove the bottom plastic base piece from the bad unit you have and put it on the one you want to use. The base on black and color units are different so the color wont just slide in. The base is just held on with a couple screws.

I agree that only plastic bottom are not same.
        Check gear/pulley/belt.
That is probably problem and it is cheaper (CPLYZ0448, NPLYZ..., NBLTH0494)

You should be able to switch the base. i would reccommend that you look at the parts manual and verify that the ATC sensor for the black and magenta are the same. if not hten swap that too.
