My black developer unit on my Sharp MX 2700n is broken. I cannot find a replacement ANYWHERE (I've looked all over online. My copier is pretty obsolete and parts are extremely difficult to find). I did, however, find a reasonably priced magenta developer unit.
IS there any way to use the magenta as a replacement for the black? Are there differences other than the color of the markings on the front?
I haven't opened the broken black unit yet, but the roller doesn't spin when you turn the plastic piece on the end by hand. I assume there is a plastic gear with its teeth stripped out because I heard a sound before it quit like gears stripping out. (Loud, grinding noise while the toner was replenishing) I don't know, as I said, I haven't opened it up yet.
I'm a bit frustrated, as I am in the middle of an important job. It never quits when I am just running things for myself or for fun.
