[Misc] Sharp MX-3640 security sofware password changed

We have an MX-3640 with security software included.

Apparently, prior to our receiving the unit, the password for the security feature only was changed.

Is there a known, inexpensive way to re-set that password?

    thank you.

The only way that I have heard is to replace all the boards so it is like new, not at all inexpensive.

On some of the older Sharps, you could replace the HDD with a non-security HDD from a spare machine. If you remove the DSK chips, replace with original type chips, and power up (disregard error code), and format the HDD - this should reset admin passwords. You can then put back the original HDD, reformat again, and you should be good to go. (I think)

You will need a different set of DIMS that don't have the DSK installed. Install them on the machine with the DSK and flip dip switch #1 on the MFP PWB. This will be an extremely tiny bank of 2 switches. It is sometimes hard to find. Once switch 1 is flipped turn on machine and it will boot into service mode (I believe sim 24). Go to code 30 and execute. After this you will have to reinstall the original DIMs with the DSK on them.
