Sharp MX2600 Change Magenta Deveolper Cartridge

Never saw a Code that required "Change Magenta Deveolper Cartridge." I had the code yesterday and cleared the Developer Count and the Code went away. But, it is back this morning. Machine is inoperable.

Does anyone know if it is just the Developer that can be changed to clear code or if you actually have to change the Unit itself? If I change the Developer and it doesn't clear the code that is an expensive mistake. I never ran into this before where I got a code like this.

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Did you use sim 24-5 to reset the dev counter ?

I had Tech Support tell me to change the DV Only - that didn't sit well with my line of thinking. I had another DV Unit that I installed but came up with the same message. That caused me confusion short of changing both. I would be inclined to do that - change both. If I only change the DV and it doesn't correct the issue - that's an expensive repair.

On these machines in the UK the machine displays letters like

DK replace black drum
VK replace black dev
