    [Misc] MX-5141 dropping off network

    we have a customer who has 3 MX-5141's that they suddenly can not print to ...they keep dropping internet access...sometimes you can ping them and then suddenly you can't...the machine will sit idle for hours and then suddenly fire up and print out a blank page...

    I forgot to add that none of the customers other printers are acting up..they all work normally...only the Sharp machines are having the problems staying on line...

    Definitely odd all 3 would suddenly have this issue. Is it possible all 3 have the same hostname? That would be equivalent to having the same IP addresses.

    Look in Network Settings> Quick settings> Device name

    If they are all named MX5141N, just add a # or letter at the end.

      Leaning towards corrupt print queue... Delete all files in the spooler directory.

      There is a lot of previous threads relating to Sharp Connectivity...

      Google Search CTN:
      "site:wwww.copytechnet.com Sharp Network"

      Random:
      MX-M503n losing network connectivity?

        Under security settings..... disable all ports that are not in use

        Are these POE lines? if so place an inexpensive 5 port hub (switch) between machine and network

        Under Energy Save settings change wake up settings to "Fast Wake Up"

        Change network speed from Auto to 100 mb/s

          Good solutions from Mansart, and upgrade firmware.

            SIM 55-3, switch 6 set bits 1 - 8 as below:
            10010000.

            Try removing from network and printing directly, does issue still happen? Any error codes in the job log?

              This is the second time i have seen this sim...

              What does it do exactly? something to do with network speed?

              And what are the settings?

                It set the network speed, or to auto negotiate, and duplex speed.

                SW6-1 Auto-Negotiation
                0 = Enabled
                1 = Disabled
                SW6-2: Link Speed (when auto-negotiation is Disabled)
                0 = 100Base TX
                1 = 10Base T
                SW6-3: Duplex Mode (when auto-negotiation is Disabled)
                0 = Full
                1 = Half
