I have a laptop with no serial connection. Has anyone tried using a USB to serial cable. I do not think it would work, but I figure I would ask.
Or do you have another solution.
Fortunately (?) I have a Win ME legacy laptop that still works for updating, etc.
I don't know if USB to serial will work or not; and the 'maintenance.exe' program will have to see the copier. The serial cable must be a cross-over type when going directly from PC to copier.
If you try the USB to serial conversion and it works, let us know; I'm not sure how long my WIN ME is going to last.

We have been using a USB to serial adaptor with out any problems. Just make sure that you use the correct Com port as usually the adaptor will use a different port (com 4, Com 5)
Sorry for the delay, seem to be a tad bit busy at work. As DavePo said, USB to serial does work. Make sure to change the settings to COM1 and use the Null Modem adapter. Thanks for the info DavePo
